Sunday's long race was around Redrock, Southampton, and Brook's Island, a short course just around Brook's Island was available for those the wanted to get into the bar early. Light wind at the start fading to a drifter, then building to moderate wind at the middle of the race and then fading to drifting at the finish.

St Francis Yacht Club's Woodies Invitational 2007 : The Knarr, Folkboat, and Bird boat class where well represented in this classic regatta. And they're where also a couple of IOD boats out. Light air for the first race and then into the club for a sit down lunch and siesta. Then at about 3:00 it's back out for the second race in some real San Francisco Bay breeze, 20 knots with gust to 30.

Master Mariners Regatta 2007 San Francisco : The first regatta was put on by the Boatmen’s Protective Association on the Fourth of July in 1867. They raced the working boats of the time; coastal schooners and sailing scows. As the era of sail past to power the regatta was abandoned by 1891.

In 1965 the regatta was revived in honor of National Maritime Day. Now organized by the San Francisco Bay Master Mariners Benevolent Association and held on Memorial Day Weekend it has become a great exhibition truly beautiful classic boats on the water and under sail. These boats where actively sailing the bay before many of use where born. The local maritime tradition is represented by the Classic scows, Alma, Gas Light, the Bird and Bear Boat Classes, and many other historically significant boats. Most of these boats are still actively sailed today with a calender of special regattas year round.

This year’s events are hosted by Encinal Yacht Club. Photos taken during the start and at the Blackaller mark rounding, May 26, 2007

Richmond Yacht Club, Big Daddy Regatta 2007 : Richmond Yacht Club is celebrating it’s 75th anniversary and the Big Daddy Regatta is celebrating it’s 25th anniversary. Bob Klein promoted this regatta through the years and if he was still with us he would probably still be out racing and winning. Bob would have been 81 this year.

139 boats racing on Saturday raced on three separate courses; South Hampton, Berkeley Circle, and Deep Water. With light air building to a moderate westerly in the afternoon.

Sunday was a pursuit race around Angle and Alcatraz Islands that starting and finishing in very light wind, drifting conditions. The weather was warm in the high 70's not bad for the end of winter. For those that made it to Alcatraz they found some wind only to have it die in Raccoon Straits. Many did not start, gave up and retired, there where only a few finishers within the time limit of 5PM.

Richmond Yacht Club, Big Dinghy Regatta 2007 : Richmond Yacht Club is celebrating it’s 75th anniversary this year.

Saturday racing was on three separate courses; Southampton, Potrero Course and Keller Cove. There was light air building to a moderate westerly in the afternoon. I was working crash boat duty on the Southampton course so I was not able to get over to the other courses for photos, my apologies.

Sunday was a pursuit race around Redrock, Southampton, and Brook's Island there was a long course and a short course (just around Brook's Island for the sort course). Good wind at the start fading to a drifter and then building to moderate wind at the end of the race.
